NEWS: World Environment Day

Today of all days I want to do my bit to make environmentally conscious decisions and to create a positive impact on those around me as to why I make them, as today is World Environment Day.

This year the focus is on Deserts and Desertification, countries including Tunisia are facing a very real threat from the desert 'claiming' large sections of the country. Deserts change their size naturally as a result of natural activities, as well as human actions. These 'dryland' ecosystems are delicately balanced and awareness and action needs to take place now to reduce the degradation of the land and the knock on effects to the communities who rely on the land for their livelihood.

Witness what is happening in China.

As the World Environment Day website says: "On this World Environment Day, let us examine the state of our environment. Let us consider carefully the actions which each of us must take, and then address ourselves to our common task of preserving all life on earth in a mood of sober resolution and quiet confidence."
