EVENT: Brighton & Hove Food & Drink Festival

Yum! Coinciding with the start of Organic Fortnight, this is one festival not to be missed - and as it goes on for a whole month, there's no chance of that!

The Brighton & Hove Food & Drink Festival celebrates the best of food and drink in Sussex. It got off to a sizzling start on Friday with the Fiery Food Festival - a food and drink market based around chilli.

The central festival event will be the huge Festival Food and Drink Market, one of the largest farmers markets in the UK. Taking place on 16-17 September, come down to the sea for a weekend of eating and drinking the very best of Sussex produce. Be tempted by fresh locally-caught fish; fine wines, ales and ciders brewed in Sussex; locally-baked cakes and pies; South Downs lamb and beef; fruit and veg; speciality sauces and prepared goods; and hand-made Sussex cheeses.

There will also be a Live Food Show where celebrities and local city chefs will show off their culinary skills with local Sussex fare.

Other events taking place over the coming month include the rather intriguing Pumpkin Challenge, and a Regency Banquet!

And if you need somewhere to stay, why not try one of these local organic hostelries (if they're not booked up already that is!):

Wickham Manor Farm
Paskins Town House
Five Hotel
The Brighton House
At Wilbury - Organic B&B
Nash Manor
Wimbles Farm B&B

Happy eating!
