NEWS: Oh For Cod's Sake

There are many things that I hold dear - my family, the environment and erm well my food source! Sorry!

I have spent more than my fair share of time concerned over the over fishing and steep decline of the natures sweet supply of cod! Whenever going for my fish and chips (something I have purposefully reduced frequency of doing) I will choose an alternative - my preferred alternative is 'Rock'

There is such ignorance to the long term impact and awareness needs to be raised considerably to make a difference. The 'Forum for the Future' report highlights how poor people's perception of the problem is!

BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS:
Johnson Seafarms produce sustainably farmed and properly monitored cod on the Shetland Isles in a clean environment. Anyone reading this will know we have to pay a slightly higher pr£ce for our environmentally aware choices - however two boneless fillets from Johnson Seafarms is just £6! They are definitely available from Tesco - however start asking your local supermarkets whether they stock it - we need to make our demands heard and guide the hands of the retailers!

Additionallty here is some information for choosing Good Fish. And there are other choices besides Cod. Here is an interesting Fish Factfile from the government.

Green hugs and tasty dinners!
