NEWS: The CityHippy Week

Ladies & Gentleman, it's Friday night! Welcome to...

The CityHippy Week!

STORY OF THE WEEK: Power to the planet
Susie Mesure swaps her Vespa for a Vectrix, the UK's first credible electric scooter, and has an eco-cool ride. Sure it's a little pricey up front but when you think that the running costs are minimal perhaps it works out to be a much better financial bet in the long-term. A fantastic development in the alternative transport market.

What else caught my little green eye?

Blair, Schwarzenegger sign UK-California climate pact

It's easy to see this as contributing nothing but more hot air to our atmosphere, not less. We must give this a chance to see what it delivers although we do want results and we want them fast. Incidentally, I wonder how GWB is reacting to this collaboration that clearly undermines his authority and therefore is bound to affect his 'special' [ahem] relationship with Tony Blair. Handbags at dawn anyone?

Clean with a conscience
The Independent offers a 20 point totally do-able guide to greening your cleaning. Much more useful than just another 'WE ARE ALL DOOMED' style Climate Porn headline.

Tesco offers bonus to green-conscious consumers
Yet another move in the battle to de-plastic society. Oh sure there will be cynics for a variety of reasons but hey, every little bit does help. Now, what if I don't have or want a clubcard?

Cityhippy bookmark of the week:
Currys move into domestic solar panels market - Scotsman
And so the grand solar conversion begins with this massive retail push at the mainstream UK market. Brilliant!

…and that's the way it is folks!

Namaste
